Benjamin Olobo appointed to Uganda Railways Corporation board

The Minister of Works and Transport, Gen Katumba Wamala has appointed an international infrastructure expert, Eng. Benjamin Olobo to the board of Uganda Railways Corporation (URC).

This was revealed by the corporation on Monday.

“The Minster of Works and Trasport Gen Wamala has appointed Eng. Benjamin Olobo to the Board of Uganda Railways Corporation.” URC stated.

Olobo replaces Eng. Robert Kafeero Sekitoleko has since been appointed to the Chief Mechanical Engineer role.

Olobo will be part of the corporation’s governing body responsible for formulating policies for the management of the property, business, income, funds and other affairs of the corporation, according to the URC Act 1992 Cap 331.

Olobo, a civil engineer, boasts over 15 years of quality experience delivering comprehensive advisory and technical solutions for large-scale transport infrastructure schemes in Sub-Saharan Africa, Western Europe and the South Pacific Islands.

He holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from Makerere University and an MSc in Highways Engineering and Management from the University of Birmingham.

He also attained a Masters in Business Administration from Heriot-Watt University.
