Betty Nambooze released on bond

Member of Parliament for Mukono Municipality, Betty Nambooze Bakireke has finally been released on Police bond after days of being detained at Kiruddu hospital despite her worrying health condition.

Nambooze was arrested Wednesday June 13th and she was charged with the offence of offensive communication following her social media comments about the assassination of former Arua municipality MP Ibrahim Abiliga.

Police has now added another charge of inciting violence and she is expected to appear before the Commissioner of the Homicide Department at Kibuli on 29th July 2018 before 9:00am

According to a close family source, Nambooze will now be discharged from Kiruddu hospital and taken to her doctor in Bugolobi as preparations to transport her to India for further treatment are underway.

Her lawyers at Lukwago and company advocates say that they will however challenge the order to have Nambooze's phones and laptop confiscated in the courts of law on grounds of a right to privacy.
