The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, has come to the aid of a couple grappling with raising newly born triplets. The family, which is facing financial difficulties, received start-up capital of ten million shillings from the Speaker during a meeting at Parliament. The meeting was also attended by former minister and MP, Maria Matembe and other members of parliament who also vowed to support the family.

It was established that Kalema Bashir and Kayaga Sofia had five children before God blessed them with a set of triplets late last year.

The ten million shillings grant, according to Among, is intended to alleviate the financial burden on the family and offer them an opportunity to create a sustainable source of income.

‘’This small token is to empower you establish a business that will provide a stable environment for the upbringing of their triplets,’’ she said.

The Speaker highlighted the importance of community support and solidarity in times of need and called upon other leaders to reach out to the needy in their communities.
