Major Kenneth Kanyi has officially assumed the mantle of Kenya-Uganda Liaison Officer, taking over from Major Abdullah Kalicha in a vibrant ceremony held at Moroto Resort Hotel. The event, attended by regional dignitaries and military officials, saw Major Kalicha bid farewell to his role after a successful year and a half in office.

Major General Don Nabasa, Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division and guest of honour, commended Major Kalicha's efforts in bolstering security and diplomatic relations between the Kenyan and Ugandan forces. He urged Major Kanyi to build upon the strong foundation laid by his predecessor.

Known for his amiable nature, Major Kalicha was lauded for his dedication to fostering positive relationships. In his farewell speech, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to the security team and leaders who supported him throughout his tenure. "The comradeship and shared laughter have touched me deeply," he remarked, "and the memories will forever hold a special place in my heart."

Liaison officers play a vital role in international relations, and Major Kalicha's time in office saw instrumental achievements, including securing grazing access for Turkana pastoralists in Karamoja. Major Kanyi is expected to continue and further enhance these positive diplomatic ties.
