Airtel contributes shs265m towards Busoga royal wedding

Telecom giants, Airtel Uganda have announced a shs265million contribution towards the upcoming Busoga royal wedding set for November, 18, 2023 in Bugembe.

Airtel’s contribution was announced by Japhet Aritho the Managing Director of Airtel Mobile Commerce Uganda Limited at a function held at Sheraton Hotel Kampala on Friday afternoon.

“We happy to be part of history as Jovia Mutesi becomes Busoga’s queen, a title that signifies just a royal position but a mother of all. This moment is a symbol of unity and beginning of a new chapter in Busoga Kingdom’s rich history,” Aritho said.

He noted that over the years, Airtel has received overwhelming support from Busoga region and that it is during such times that the telecom company reciprocates this support by taking part in such momentous occasions like the upcoming royal wedding.

“A new generational queen has arrived and we stand in unity to support this occasion with commitment to ensure every facet of this celebration is a befitting tribute to the remarkable union it honours. This love story is a source of inspiration and it should remind us that like the Busoga kingdom, we can achieve great things if we come together with special purpose.”

The second deputy Katuukiro of Busoga Osman Ahmed hailed Airtel for showing love to the Kyabazinga and kingdom at large with the contribution towards the royal wedding.

“As Busoga kingdom we express our sincere gratitude towards the contribution geared towards what has been made in preparation to the royal wedding. Airtel is one of the leading telecom companies in Uganda and is enjoying great support from Busoga kingdom and subregion and it is the reason they are showing their loyalty towards ObwaKyabazinga bwa Busoga. We thank them for that,” Osman said.

He said the telecom company has contributed shs40 million in cash and shs225 million in other properties.
