Fast rising singer, Ykee Benda will not be singing at the World Cup as earlier stated, Nile post has learnt.
Following his collaboration with musician 'Jason Derulo' for the official World Cup theme song, Benda confirmed that he was shortlisted among the African acts to perform at the FIFA World Cup 2018 edition in Russia.
In a sudden twist of events rather, the "Kyenkyebula'' musician confirmed on a local radio station that his position was taken up by another musician and he will only travel to Russia to watch the proceedings in the stands not on the stage.
" I will be travelling to Russia. But just to watch and not to perform" - Ykee Bender lamented in a statement although he remained tight lipped about the reason behind his replacement.
He was among the few shortlisted musicians from Africa to get shortlisted back in May along side Tanzania's Diamond Platinumz, Sami Dan from Ethiopia and Mozambique's James.
