Senior Presidential Advisor (Industry), Amelia Kyambadde has been honoured with the Distinguished Order of the Nile: Long Service with Good Conduct and Philanthropic Spirit medal.
Kyambadde was honoured on Monday during the the national celebrations of Uganda's 61st Independence anniversary in Kitgum district.
The celebrations were presided over by President Yoweri Museveni.
At the event, Kyambadde was among the 42 people awarded by Museveni for their distinguished services towards the country.
The former Trade Minister was honoured for her long service with good conduct and philanthropic spirit.
Also, among the awardees was the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martin Okoth Ochola.
Distinguished Order of the Nile honour is awarded to exceptional servants for their contribution towards social and economic transformation of the country.
Who is Amelia Kyambadde?
Amelia Kyambadde is many things, an entrepreneur, philanthropist who currently serves as the Presidential Advisor on Industry.
Before her current position, she served as the Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives for 10 years.
The former Principal Private Secretary to President Museveni has also served as the Member of Parliament for Mawokota North County for 10 years from 2011 to 2021.
Kyambadde has served on the boards of several private companies including Fresh Handling Ltd- a major exporter of fresh commodities, Hexagon Global Ltd- an apex body for trading and real estate, Ensulo Haven (U) Ltd -an aquaculture and tourism project among others.
Kyambadde runs an NGO- Twezimbe Development Foundation which aims at uplifting the standards of vulnerable persons in Uganda.
She is a holder of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), from Makerere University. She also attained Master of Business Administration (MBA), from the American InterContinental University, United Kingdom.
