Bomb Discovered Minutes Before Exploding in Kasese

Business came to a standstill at Kisanga market commonly known as “Mawa market” in Nyamwamba division, Kasese town when traders detected a bomb moments before it went off on Thursday, June 07, 2018.

Sources say that the bomb which was discovered at 7:00am was set to go off at exactly 11am.
One of the traders who saw the bomb placed in a Rwenzori water container rushed to the nearby police post and reported leading to a cordoning off of the area. Bomb specialists were soon called in. They transferred the bomb to an open area where it was deactivated.
One of the eye witnesses Joseph Karakole says they suspected that the item was a bomb after noticing the words on the container were in Arabic.
The Kasese RDC Lt. Col. James Mwesigye commended the traders for quickly reporting to the Police which saved the lives of many.
Mwesigye revealed five more bombs had been discovered outside Kasese.
The RPC for Rwenzori East ASP Ceaser Julius Tusingwire called for calmness as investigations into the bombs origin go on.
This incident comes barely a month after residents of Kitholhu sub-county killed a suspected rebel, recovering an AK 47 assault rifle from the body. Similarly, residents of Kamuruli village in Kisinga sub-county disarmed another suspected rebel in their area.
Kasese and greater Rwenzori suffered the brunt of the Allied Democratic Forces in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The rebels fled to Eastern DR Congo where they continue to cause anarchy.
