According to Racheal Kawala, the Wamala regional police spokesperson, the deceased's father allegedly relocated from Kyankwanzi with his family in February 2023 and purchased a plot of land near the suspect's residence. He asked the suspect to rent him a room for his family because he was building his own house.

“However, due to limited space, the suspect offered to house two of the girls, including the deceased, in his room. Unfortunately, over the months, the suspect allegedly sexually abused the deceased,” she said.

Preliminary findings suggest that the suspect discovered the deceased with two phone lines, which led him to suspect she had another lover. Around midnight, he confronted her about engaging in intercourse, but she refused, leading to a quarrel.

“This escalated, causing the girl to flee the house. Akandwanaho pursued her with a machete (panga), and cut her, causing a fatal injury,” she said

The police task team visited the crime scene and documented including the panga that has been used in the crime.

The body of the deceased has been conveyed to Mubende Referral Hospital, awaiting a postmortem examination.
