As the Christians prepare to celebrate the Uganda Martyrs at Namugongo on 3rd June 2018, the renegade Bishop of Evangelical Orthodox church in Central and Eastern provinces of Uganda Bishop Jacinto Kibuuka has said he will hold parallel celebrations at Mamre International Prayer Centre, Namugongo.

Speaking to journalists, Kibuuka said:  "Yes we have prepared our celebrations that are different from those of Namugongo."

The main celebrations will take place on June 3 but on Saturday June 2, they will hold overnight prayers for deliverance and healing.

"We shall cast away demons and pray for the sick," he said.

He said they had deployed security to ensure peace.

Kibuuka said they expect 20 bishops from Uganda and outside. He said they will not allow pork and alcohol on the premises because this is not a day of feasting.

Bishop Kibuuka who broke off from the Catholic church a couple of years ago was in November 2017 consecrated as Bishop at his Prayer centre at Namugongo amidst protests from the mainstream Catholic church.
