Ugandans asking for 'age limit money are killing me' with phone calls - Magyezi

Igara West Member of Parliament and mover of the controversial age limit Bill says he is receiving frantic calls from anonymous Ugandans begging for money.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday at parliament, Magyezi said he was tired of the calls from people who assume he has made a lot of money from tabling the controversial bill.

He accused Red Pepper publications of fuelling rumours that he had pocketed a staggering Shs600m to own the Bill, no wonder the calls in every nook and cranny.

“I have not received any money to present this bill, I actually demand an apology from Red Pepper for running that story,” Magyezi said.

"This information is misleading, some say I received Shs1 billion but none of that is true, I am doing this because I know it's right and not for money," he added.

Magyezi who came to the limelight after he declared his intention to move a Bill that seeks to amend article 102b of the constitution to remove age limit and allow President Museveni another go at the top office, maintain the Bill is not for Museveni’s benefit.

The Bill currently lies in the hands of the Parliamentary legal committee for scrutiny. He however insists that certain members of the committee step down from the process as they are already biased.
