Katwe United edges closer to Big League

Katwe United has edged closer to the Uganda Big League after defeating Kiboga Young in the first leg of the play-offs at Kiboga Saza Grounds.

The only goal of the match was scored by Kaliisa Joshua from a spectacular free after Kisitu Samson of Kiboga Young fouled Male Joel of Katwe United.

After the game, the Katwe united coach said: “We were very well prepared and I thank the players for the resilience. We cannot relax because we have huge task ahead of the second leg."

Katwe United is owned and managed by Makindye West MP, Allan Ssewanyana.

The slum-based team has a huge fan base in and around Kampala.

The second leg shall take place on Sunday, May 27 and the winner of the two-legged tie will qualify as central region representatives to the Big League.
