Police officer knocked dead in hit and run accident

The commander for Kyebando Police post, ASP Francis Kato was Thursday knocked dead in a hit and run accident.

Kato was knocked by a yet to be identified car while he retired from his duty post at Kira road. According to a message from Kira Road Division Police Commander, Mr Michael Kasigyire, Kato was heading back to his post in Kyebando.

“Kira road with deep sorrows announce the untimely death of Asp Kato the OC Kyebando police post. The officer was knocked dead by un identified car while he was from duty at Kira road where he worked as duty officer. He was then returning to his duty beat Kyebando and he met his death. The body has been conveyed to city mortuary for PM.RIP my son.”

Kato is an alumnus of St Leo’s College Kyegobe, class of 2004 and hails from Fort Portal, Kabarole. He leaves behind a wife and two children.

In March, a bus belonging to Divine coaches  knocked dead a traffic officer, Cpl Wilfred Tweituk at Kabakanjagala Nabunya road. Tweituk died instantly while the driver of the bus took off but was arrested two weeks later.
