Dr. Dre loses trademark dispute with gynaecologist, Dr. Drai

Dr Dre has lost a long-running trademark dispute against a gynaecologist named Dr. Drai, BBC news has reported.

Dre has been fighting the case since 2015, arguing that Pennsylvania-based gynaecologist Draion M Burch's bid to trademark the name could cause "confusion" between their work.

However, in a ruling reportedly made last week, the U.S. Trademark Office dismissed the case from the music mogul. It is reported that Dre failed to show that people would be misled into buying by Dr. Drai's products.

Burch, author of books such asĀ 20 Things You May Not Know About A Vagina, also argued that confusion is unlikely to occur "because Dr Dre is not a medical doctor nor is he qualified to provide any type of medical services or sell products specifically in the medical or healthcare industry."

The gynaecologist further suggested that he was not keen on being associated with Dre, citing violent lyrics from his past hits as evidence.
