Nyanjura, Anna Adeke arrested for protesting high commodity prices, Besigye’s detention (Video)

Kampala Deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura, Soroti Woman MP Anna Adeke and other women activists from the People’s Front for Transition (PFT) movement have been arrested.

The women activists were protesting against the high commodity prices and the continued detention of Kizza Besigye.

The group was staged at the Mulago roundabout.

The group was chanting anti-government slogans, while calling for the freedom of their PFT leader, Besigye.

They were also holding placards that were calling for reduction of the size of government, which they said is exploitative.

"We can not breath, free Besigye," some of the placards read.

Police rounded them up, before bundling them on the waiting police patrol vehicles.

By press time, the activists were being held at the Wandegeya police station.
