The Inspector General of Police Gen.Kale Kayihura has opened up on the fracas at parliament on Wednesday afternoon.

There were ugly scenes following the suspension of twenty-five MPs especially those opposed to lifting of the age limit from the constitution.

Responding to journalists on Thursday during a press briefing at Kasenyi landing site in Entebbe, Gen.Kayihura admitted that police asked for assistance of other security agencies to beef up security at parliamentt.

"If you are to blame, personally I am responsible. I asked assistance from other sister security agencies,"Kayihura said.

"That's why you saw a joint team of security officers putting on civilian attire assisting us."

The police boss, who did not mention any security agency by name, said he was not apologetic for what transpired on the floor of the August house in a bid to restore normalcy.

Kayihura said that they had earlier got wind of plans by opposition Members of Parliament to cause chaos in the house, something he said couldn't be allowed to happen.

"We had to plan after getting intelligence information that they (MPs) had organised to cause chaos."He added,” I am the one who planned all this to restore peace inside and outside parliament."

He however said that it should be MPs to be put on spot for starting the chaos that necessitated security intervention to calm the situation.

The ugly scenes at parliament saw MPs break microphones and chairs as they fought each other.

A couple of the legislators were also injured in the chaos.

"I must thank the team that brought order and calmness in parliament for the good job done."
