'Storm Mbale court now,' FDC tells supporters

The Forum for Democratic Change president Patrick Amuriat Oboi has urged supporters to the storm the constitutional court in Mbale as a show of solidarity with petitioners in the age limit case.

Amuriat reminded FDC supporters that the petition currently being heard is in the interest of majority Ugandans and that they should show cause by being present in Mbale to witness how the Jury handles the petition.

“Go pour in court in millions and witness how your cases are being handled; you were opposed to the amendment of the constitutional amendment to lift the presidential age. The chance is still here, don’t fear the police, court is a public place” Amuriat said.

Amuriat was addressing a presser at the party headquarters in Kampala.

“Follow the proceedings from the beginning to the end, consult and understand the proceedings, if we establish of any bias on the side of the judges, we will make our own ruling in the public opinion court,” Amuriat added.

Several opposition legislators, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and the Uganda law society were among the many petitioners who went to court challenging the passing of the constitutional amendment act lifting the presidential age limit.

Contrary to the call, police has sealed off mabale high court premises where the age limit petition is being heard in fear  of attacks by political activists  who are against being sidelined from the proceeding.
