FDC: We want to unite the opposition

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat has said that the party is working on uniting all opposition parties in order to confront their common challenges with one voice.

Amuriat said that as the opposition, there is need to know what they are dealing with and see how to address it as one and this is what they are trying to achieve.

Amuriat made these remarks while appearing on NBS Morning Breeze, Thursday morning.

“Yesterday, it was FDC that was harassed, today it is NUP, this calls for unity in the Opposition because you can not tell who is next,” Amuriat said.

“Opposition unity from top to bottom is very necessary. We need to sensitize the public on this,” he added.

Without revealing details, Amuriat said that FDC will find the progressiveness in all the other parties and try to forge a working partnership.

“We (opposition) are working on coming together as well; it's not necessary to reveal what is going on behind the curtains.”

Attempts to forge political unity and coalitions in Uganda in the recent past have either failed from the start or collapsed before their goals could be attained, but Amuriat said that he is confident that this unity can be attained by FDC.

Amuriat said that the party is busy working and will appear in the media at the right time to discuss developments.
