“You were conned,” NUP pressure group tells Museveni after meeting

A group of Youth claiming to be the founders and members of the “Tajja Kulayira” campaign under their pressure group dubbed Time is Now have said they sympathize with President Museveni for allegedly meeting the wrong group.

In a statement by Khalid Kaka, the international coordinator of the Time is Now pressure group, he claims that a team of members under one Mutasa Kafeero who met President Museveni last week, are frauds, who conned the president of millions of cash.

“It has come to our attention that a group of youth-led by Mutasa Kafeero met President Museveni last week. They claimed to be behind a nationwide campaign to block President Museveni swearing-in which is dubbed as “Tajja Kulayira”,” a statement from Kaka reads in part.

“We wish to categorically state it that none of our members or activists has met President Museveni and we wish to reaffirm it that our plans of organizing nationwide peaceful protests on May 12th, 2021 are still on, “the statement continues.

Last week President Museveni met coordinators of the National Unity Platform, Members of the Red Top Brigade and supporters of NUP who claimed there were behind the tajja kulayira campaign.

However, Kaka says the group is not anywhere near the campaign adding that the meeting between Red Top and President Museveni is aimed at disorganizing “our plans and to mislead our mobilizers.”

“We call upon fellow Ugandans to remain steadfast and continue fighting for our victory. Peaceful protests are provided within our constitution. It’s therefore within the law to demonstrate peacefully.”
