Senior NRM mobiliser and current Kayunga District NRM Chairperson, Kalangwa Moses Kalisa, has received a strong endorsement from NRM leaders in Mityana District for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for Buganda Region.
The endorsement came during a strategic mobilisation meeting held early this werk where Kalangwa engaged distri ct leaders on the future of the party in Buganda.
The meeting, held at Mityana Nursing school drew a wide range of party leaders, including sub-county chairpersons, district councillors, youth leaders, women representatives, and other grassroots mobilisers.
Kalangwa used the platform to share his vision for revitalising the party in the region and called for unity, discipline, and renewed focus on grassroots mobilisation.
“I am not here to make promises, I am here to commit myself to real work,” Kalangwa said.
“Buganda needs a leader who understands the challenges our people face and is ready to engage at the ground level. That is the kind of leadership I’m offering.”
Kalangwa, known for his practical and direct approach, emphasized that the ruling party must rebuild trust with the electorate by listening to local concerns and addressing service delivery issues.
He called on NRM leaders to end internal divisions and instead focus on reclaiming political dominance in areas that were lost to the opposition in recent elections.
“The time for blame games is over. If we want to win in 2026, we must unite now and speak with one voice. When the party is divided, we lose not just seats, but the people’s confidence,” Kalangwa warned.
Following his address, several local leaders openly declared their support for Kalangwa’s bid for the regional position, praising his deep understanding of rural communities and his track record in party mobilisation.
“Kalangwa is a man of action, not empty talk,” said Wilson Waswa , an NRM chairman for Maanyi Sub-County. “We need a vice chairperson who can reach every corner of Buganda and not wait in Kampala to be told what’s happening on the ground.”
Ggayi Habert Mukasa a councilor from Kalangalo sub county, added, “As young people in the party, we want someone who will work with us, not over us. Kalangwa has always respected and involved us in his strategies. That’s the kind of leadership Buganda needs.”
The endorsement marks a significant boost for Kalangwa’s campaign, which has been gaining momentum across several Buganda sub-regions.
His message of unity, mobilisation, and service delivery appears to resonate with leaders who feel the party needs stronger regional representation and coordination.
Kalangwa concluded the meeting by thanking the Mityana leadership for their trust and pledged to work with all stakeholders to rebuild the party’s strength across the Buganda Region.
“I am ready to serve. I will not sit in an office and wait for reports. I will be in the field, with you, working for the NRM and for the people,” he said.
As the NRM prepares for its internal elections later this year, Kalangwa’s growing popularity positions him as a strong contender for the influential role of Vice Chairperson for Buganda, a region considered vital to the party’s national success.
