The leader of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT), Gen Mugisha Muntu has called on Ugandans seeking change of government to engage actively in elections.
Reflecting on the recent Kawempe North by-election, which was marred by low voter turnout, Muntu emphasized that this issue should be a focal point as the country approaches the 2026 general elections.
He made these remarks on Wednesday during an appearance on NBS Television's Morning Breeze.
"Kawempe had about 190,000 voters. Those who participated in the election were about 40,000. This means about 150,000 didn't show up. This needs to be a key talking point," he said.
"Are these 150,000 people who want change or those satisfied with the status quo?" Muntu questioned.
He warned that Ugandans seeking change are unlikely to achieve that goal without active participation in elections.
"Sitting back and hoping for something good and not taking part in elections is like an ostrich burying its head in the sand." he said.
