The Director of the Manifesto Implementation Unit, Willis Bashasha, has lauded the Kampala Capital City’s (KCCA) ongoing efforts towards achieving the promises outlined in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Manifesto, describing them as beneficial to all Ugandans.
During the visit to Kampala, Bashasha witnessed key achievements under the manifesto’s commitments, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare, and livelihood improvement programs.
Bashasha is on a four-day tour of Kampala projects, which commenced today and will run until December 19.
Among the achievements witnessed in is the Kampala Traffic Control Center building, part of a broader initiative to improve traffic flow in the city.
The project also involves the upgrading of 27 critical junctions and has already shown significant progress. Junctions like Mulago, Kubiri, Spear Motors, and Katalima have been
Bashasha also visited the Kampala Flyover Project, a key infrastructure initiative aimed at reducing congestion and improving connectivity within the city.
The team also visited Kisenyi Health Center IV, which is providing essential health services to the community. Government in partnership with MTN Uganda has established an oxygen plant at the facility, which is key in improving health care services.
While the center is functioning well, Bashasha noted that it is overwhelmed by the high number of patients seeking care.
The government has pledged to address such challenges to ensure efficient and quality health service delivery across the country.
He acknowledged the efforts of health workers and underscored the importance of expanding such facilities to meet the growing healthcare demands of urban communities.
In addition, Bashasha met with beneficiaries of the Parish Development Model (PDM) program. Beneficiaries shared uplifting testimonies of how the program has transformed their lives.
One beneficiary revealed that they had received Shs 1m and were using the funds effectively to improve their household income.
The Executive Director of KCCA, Frank Rusa, expressed confidence in the authority’s ability to achieve its set targets under the manifesto. He outlined the ongoing projects and reiterated KCCA’s commitment to delivering on the NRM government’s promises to the people.
