Police in Kagadi District have launched a manhunt and investigation into the murder of 57-year-old teacher Charles Lwanga, who was allegedly killed by his concubine following a domestic altercation on Saturday, April 6, 2025.
Lwanga, a resident of Kyeicumu Village in Kyenzige Sub-county, reportedly got into a heated quarrel with his partner.
According to Police, the altercation escalated, and the woman allegedly struck him with a hand hoe, leaving him unconscious.
Albertine region police spokesperson Julius Hakiza confirmed that local residents witnessed the incident and immediately alerted the area LC1 chairperson, who in turn notified police authorities.
“Unfortunately, by the time police arrived around 7pm, Charles had already passed away,” Hakiza said.
The Police registered a case of murder by assault on April 7, and the crime scene was documented by Kagadi Police. Lwanga’s body was transported to Kagadi General Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Hakiza also noted that police have taken statements from several witnesses. However, by the time officers arrived at the scene, the suspect had already fled.
“This is a criminal offense. We have recorded witness statements, and the suspect, the suspect, who is still at large, is being pursued by our teams in Kagadi. She will be charged with murder once apprehended,” Hakiza added.
Police are urging anyone with information regarding Tuhaise’s whereabouts to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
