Emorimor resurrects Tororo county quest for district status
The cultural leader of Iteso Cultural Union, Papa Paul Sande Emolot has asked government to stop any discussion of elevating Tororo district into city and instead embark on one to divide the district into two .
According to the Emorimor, it should be his people to front the city move since Tororo Municipality allegedly falls under Tororo county.

Speaking to hundreds of his subjects from the two Constituencies of Tororo county South and North gathered at Mukuju Sub county headquarters on Sunday, the Emorimor said it is high time the district is cut into two.
" I have called all of you here to seek your opinion on whether we should allow the ongoing discussion of Tororo district being granted a city before even government officially declaring to us the Landon report," he said.
" Please by show of hands, tell me how many of you say we should have Tororo city instead of a district?" Papa Emolot further questioned.
Without hesitation, they all agreed on the county being granted a district status, demanding for the Landon map.
Toror Woman MP, Sarah Opendi also chipped in.
" There has been talks about granting Tororo county a city status. This very week I was with minister of local government and he told me that there was a team that had told him that Tororo should be divided into three with a city. I told him that before you even talk of a city, please release the London report, simple" Opendi said.
The Member of Parliament for Tororo County South Fredrick Angura, equally told the gathering that he was shocked to hear the discussion of a city overpowering their quest for district division.
" We have never discussed issues to do with a city at all as people of Tororo county but I am surprised by the way it's being spread. Please we have never asked for anything to do with a city. Let the president know that we need a district not city," said Angura.
Upon listening to the legislators together with some other leaders, Emorimor vowed never to allow any discussion regarding a city but a district, asking the president to use their resolution to put to end the Tororo question.
" This is now clear, any discussion surrounding Tororo city, Tororo county is not part of it. With resolution that has just been made here, do not again waste our time with a discussion that we have already closed."
In 2018, government sent a delegation to UK for the colonial map in order to establish the actual boundary of Tororo Municipality to put to rest the long-standing conflict between Tororo county people and West Budama since both claim ownership of the municipality.
To date, the finding has not been openly declared to the population .
