Joint security agencies within the Kampala Metropolitan Area have arrested more than 200 suspects following coordinated intelligence-led operations conducted between 05:00pm on May 20, 2026 and 05:00am on May 21, 2026.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, the operations targeted several areas across Kampala, Wakiso, and Mukono districts in response to increasing reports of drug abuse, mugging, and robbery.
The operations were carried out in Clock Tower, Kinyoro, and Kitende Zone in Makindye Division, Kampala District; Kalerwe in Kawempe Division, Kampala District; KKB Cell, Mutungo, and Kitende Wards in Wakiso District; as well as Wantoni, Nabuti, and Ngandu in Mukono Central Division, Mukono District.
During the crackdown, security personnel recovered several exhibits, including opium, housebreaking implements, identity cards suspected not to belong to the suspects, and money transfer cards.
“Joint security agencies remain committed to intensifying operations aimed at combating crime and enhancing public safety within the Kampala Metropolitan Area,” SP Kawala said.
All suspects are currently in custody pending screening and subsequent court proceedings.
Security operations remain ongoing as joint agencies continue efforts to curb criminal activity and improve safety in the affected communities.
