In a significant achievement, two marine vessels, MV BKK 1 and MV BKK 2, have successfully passed their floating tests on Lake Kyoga. This milestone marks a crucial step towards the completion of the Lake Kyoga ferry project, which aims to enhance transportation and connectivity in the region.

The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) announced that the technical teams have worked tirelessly to ensure the vessels' safety and functionality, and their efforts have paid off. With the floating test complete, additional works will focus on preparing the ferries for sailing.

Once operational, the ferries will have a combined capacity to transport over 600 passengers and 35 vehicles per trip, greatly improving travel times and economic opportunities. The project is a testament to UNRA's commitment to improving Uganda's transportation infrastructure.

The successful floating test brings relief to communities surrounding Lake Kyoga, who have been facing stress over the lake's waters. The project's completion will provide a safer, more efficient, and more reliable transportation system, promoting economic growth and development in the region.
