Kampala — National Unity Platform (NUP) deputy spokesperson Waswa Mufumbiro and activist Sauda Madada have been presented before the Kawempe Chief Magistrates Court following their arrest on Monday.
Mufumbiro, who was picked up by police outside the same court earlier this week, arrived in visibly high spirits.
Handcuffed and escorted by prison wardens, he lifted his clenched fists defiantly to acknowledge supporters as he entered the courtroom.
Madada, on the other hand, was arrested from Busia while allegedly attempting to cross into exile in Kenya.
Dressed in a grey hoodie, shorts, and sunglasses, she appeared calm and composed as she was led into court under heavy guard.

Authorities have not immediately disclosed the specific charges against the pair, but their arrests come at a time of heightened political pressure on NUP activists across the country.
