The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) recently held its very first National Environment Sustainability Awards which were aimed at recognizing and celebrating individuals and organizations that have made a significant contribution to environmental sustainability. The Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister without Portfolio, Lukia Isanga Nakadama graced the ceremony that took place at Sheraton Hotel, Kampala. Roofings emerged as the winner in the category for steelworks due to its air pollution control measures.

2. Scrubber: The scrubber effectively absorbs Hydrogen chloride gas so that it is not emitted to the environment.
3. Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO): Utilization of a Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) to destroy hazardous air pollutants and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
4. Energy-Efficient Technologies: Investment in energy-efficient technologies that reduce the carbon footprint of their operations. This includes using less energy-intensive machines and technologies.
