The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) recently held its very first National Environment Sustainability Awards which were aimed at recognizing and celebrating individuals and organizations that have made a significant contribution to environmental sustainability. The Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister without Portfolio, Lukia Isanga Nakadama graced the ceremony that took place at Sheraton Hotel, Kampala. Roofings emerged as the winner in the category for steelworks due to its air pollution control measures.
According to Roofings Group’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Stuart Jason Mwesigwa, environmental sustainability is embedded in the core of Roofings’ business. At Roofings, it’s not just about compliance with environmental laws and regulations, it’s about our vision and our corporate ethos. He urges other industries to embrace what Roofings has been doing for the last 30 years. ‘Yes, together we can do so much more for our wellbeing,’ he said.
