Soroti Diocese ordains six new priests
Soroti Catholic Diocese has ordained six new priests and one deacon during a ceremony held at Regina Caeli Cathedral to mark a significant milestone in the diocese's history.

The priests ordained include Deacon Ajoket Marcel St Thomas the apostle parish Koloin ,Deacon Oyii Dominic Holy family parish Gweri ,Deacon Eladu Cuthbert St Michael s parish Wera ,Deacon Moses Okaki St Peters parish Olio ,Deacon Osuku James St Patrick's Parish Madera ,Deacon Seminarian Egili Dennis St Kizitos parish Katine and Deacon Otim Pius of Our Lady of the most Holy Rosary Asamuk.
In his message, Bishop Eciru Oliach urged the new priests to save souls, even at the cost of their lives, and cautioned them against alcoholism.
He emphasized the importance of dedication, selflessness, and commitment to their vocation.
"At whatever cost save souls .Souls in the morning, afternoon and evening," he said.
Vice President Alupo Epel and Speaker Among congratulated the new priests, encouraging them to serve with humility and compassion.
Speaker Among praised the dedication of Bukedea priests and thanked the bishop for his support during the controversial homosexual bill discussions."
" I want sincerely thank you for the continuous prayer since I became deputy speaker and speaker. One night you called me and told me, my daughter don't fear and me with my members of Parliament passed the bill ,"said Among.
President Yoweri Museveni, in a message delivered by Vice President Jessica Alupo, commended the church's contributions to building schools and emphasized the importance of self-value and hard work.
He urged the new priests to instill these values in the community and called upon the people of Soroti Diocese to support and pray for them.
" I also want to thank the diocese administration for the prayers. I am glad that u have received focused men in your ministry. I would like to commend you for the good work ."
With this ordination, the Soroti Catholic Diocese now has 89 priests serving in various parishes and institutions, nurturing vocations and promoting the Catholic faith in the region.
