Soroti LC3 chairman arrested over defilement
Police in Soroti District have arrested the LCIII Chairman of Awaliwal sub-county, Peter Ebau on allegations of defiling a 16-year-old girl.
He is currently detained at Soroti District Central Police Station, Katine.

Acting East Kyoga Police Spokesperson, Edison Obukulem, confirmed the arrest, stating that the matter came to light on May 10, 2024, when the LCI of Amoroto Village, Awaliwal sub-county, reported the alleged defilement to Gweri Police Station.
A case was opened under SD Ref 07/10/05/2024.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the defilement occurred on April 28, 2024.
The victim, who worked as a maid at Ebau's residence, was given a smartphone by the suspect but later had it withdrawn and was threatened after becoming pregnant.
Police records also show that Ebau had been harassing and beating the young girl.
The victim fled to her village in Toroma, Katakwi, but her family intervened after noticing her pregnancy.
During interrogation, the victim revealed that she was four months pregnant and had an affair with Ebau at a guest house along Soroti-Moroto road.
Ebau was arrested by Soroti Regional CID when he reported to the police station.
