Six Killed As Drone Rams Into Parked Sugarcane Lorry in Kakira
Jinja – At least six people were killed and eight others critically injured on Thursday morning when the commuter omnibus, popularly known as Drone, they were travelling in rammed into the back of a parked sugarcane truck on the Jinja-Iganga Highway at Kakira.
The collision occurred around 3am, where a Toyota Hiace (registration UBP 574J) travelling from Iganga side rammed into the back of a parked sugarcane truck (registration UAF 333B).

Witnesses reported that the speeding taxi from Namisindwa District crashed into the back of the stationary truck, killing six people on the spot.
Mable Asingwire, the Kiira Region Traffic Officer, confirmed the accident details.
"The accident resulted in the loss of six lives on the spot, and the injured passengers were taken to the hospital for urgent medical attention," she said.
The injured were taken to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were transported to the hospital mortuary.
The Kakira stretch of the Jinja-Iganga Highway is notorious for accidents, with local authorities now urging motorists to exercise extra caution, especially in high-risk areas like Kakira, to help reduce the frequency of such tragic incidents.
