RAKAI | Police are investigating the murder of 50-year-old businessman Umar Nsubuga, who was brutally attacked at his home in Kibaati village, Kachera sub-county.

Nsubuga was killed during the night by unknown assailants, while his wife, Layirat Tukirize, and their 4-year-old son, Imram Nsubuga, sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Rakai Hospital.

Eyewitnesses report that four attackers stormed the home under the cover of darkness.

The assailants reportedly masked Nsubuga before tying him with ropes and stabbing him multiple times in the chest.

His wife, Layirat Tukirize, described the terrifying ordeal, noting that the attackers had ample time to carry out the attack.

Twaha Kasirye, the Greater Masaka police spokesperson, suggested that a family land dispute may have been the motive behind the murder.

“This family has been involved in numerous land conflicts, and we suspect this could be linked to the attack,” Kasirye said.

Police have arrested one family member as a key suspect as investigations continue.
