A team of young Ugandan innovators under Dcode Dynamics has unveiled a new digital platform designed to ease the school admissions process for learners, parents, and administrators across the country.
The system, available at SchoolAdmin.co.ug, centralises applications by placing multiple schools in one online space. Learners can submit forms, track responses, and receive admission updates without physically visiting institutions.
According to team leader Emmanuel Kakaire, the idea was inspired by the challenges students face during the traditional admission process.
“When we were applying for Senior One, we had to visit several schools physically with our parents. It was tedious and costly. This platform eliminates that burden,” he explained.
The service is free for both schools and students, although normal application fees charged by schools still apply. Currently, five schools are enrolled, with the target of onboarding at least 100 institutions, including Universal Primary Education schools.
Kakaire said the system cuts costs, saves time, and reduces long queues that often overwhelm families during Senior One and Senior Five intakes.
To ensure credibility, schools must first apply and be verified before appearing on the platform.
He noted that while the platform is a breakthrough, innovators in Uganda still face challenges such as limited funding, infrastructure costs, and lack of mentorship.
Despite this, he expressed optimism about the platform’s potential to transform school admissions nationwide.
According to the innovators, the platform has robust data protection features, including encryption, to safeguard user information.
