Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) president Moses Magogo and FUFA Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson have earned appointments to FIFA’s high-level committees.
Magogo, who has served as FUFA president since 2013, has been named a member of the FIFA Football Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation Committee.
The committee, chaired by Thorvaldur Orlygsson of Iceland, focuses on advancing football through technological innovation and digital solutions to improve the global game’s efficiency, integrity, and fan engagement.
Meanwhile, FUFA CEO Edgar Watson Suubi, who has held the federation’s top administrative position since 2007, has been appointed to the FIFA Technical Development Committee.
The committee, led by Georgia’s Levan Kobiashvili, is responsible for promoting technical advancement, coaching standards, and player development worldwide.
The dual appointments represent significant international recognition for Uganda’s football leadership.
However, they come at a time when Magogo is facing criticism and public debate back home over FUFA’s proposed new Uganda Premier League format, which has drawn mixed reactions from clubs and fans.
Despite the domestic controversy, the FIFA appointments affirm both Magogo’s and Watson’s growing influence in football governance beyond Uganda’s borders.
Both officials are expected to begin their new roles immediately, joining representatives from over 20 countries across different continents.
