NBS Sport lived up to its promise as the home of Ugandan sport by broadcasting every round of the 2025 Nile Special Uganda Rugby 7s Series. From the opening games in Kampala to the deciding matches at the Buffaloes 7s in Wakiso, fans across the country and beyond were able to follow the entire journey live.
The series stretched across the regions, giving rugby fans in every corner of the country a chance to host and celebrate the game. The caravan began with the Kabaka Coronation Sevens in Kampala before moving north to Gulu, then back through Entebbe, Bweyogerere, Jinja, and Kabale, covering more than 800 kilometers of travel.
Each stop brought its own drama. In Jinja, Walukuba Barbarians edged Heathens 12–10 in a memorable Kyabazinga Sevens final. In Kabale, Thunderbirds tightened their grip on the women’s crown, while Walukuba Barbarians built momentum that proved decisive in the men’s race.
The season closed at the Buffaloes 7s in Wakiso. Heathens defeated Pirates 17–10 in the men’s final thanks to tries from Aaron Ofoyrwoth, Walter Otim, and Denis Etwau. In the women’s showdown, Black Pearls edged Nile Rapids in sudden death with Lydia Namabiro scoring the decisive try. Despite those final results, the overall series champions had already been decided: Walukuba Barbarians in the men’s competition and Thunderbirds in the women’s category.
Speaking after the series, Victor Akatwijuka, Brand Manager at NBS Sport, said the channel’s role goes beyond coverage. “Our mission is simple — to Champion Uganda Sport. Broadcasting all seven stops of the Sevens Series is a reaffirmation of that promise. When fans in Gulu, Kabale, or Jinja saw their towns spotlighted live, it was more than coverage; it was storytelling like never before.”
