NBS Sport and AfroMobile are set to kick off the exclusive broadcast of the full line-up of the 2025 Nile Special Uganda Sevens Series, reinforcing its position as the channel championing Uganda’s sporting talent and stories.
The historic seven-stop national rugby sevens series begins on August 2 with the Kabaka Coronation Rugby Sevens and concludes on September 28, taking the sport across Central, Northern, Eastern, and Western Uganda.
The tournament opens with the Kabaka Coronation Rugby Sevens at Kyadondo Rugby Club—an event that honours 32 years of His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s leadership. Originally scheduled for Wankulukuku, the venue change follows preparations for CHAN 2025.
This stop carries a strong social message under the theme: “Tubeere Balamu – Men Against AIDS to Save the Girl Child,” merging sport with cultural responsibility.
The series will then move through key rugby cities including Gulu, Entebbe, Jinja, Kabale, and additional Kampala stops, giving Ugandans across the country direct access to top-flight rugby action.
Ahead of the live broadcast, Victor Akatwijuka, Brand Manager at NBS Sport, says the coverage reflects the station’s purpose:
“At NBS Sport, we don’t just air games—we Champion Ugandan Sport. The Sevens Series is more than a tournament; it’s a national movement. And covering all seven stops is part of our responsibility to give our athletes the platform they’ve earned and our viewers the access they deserve.”
As Uganda’s first and only 24/7 sports TV station, NBS Sport is dedicated to telling the full story of sport—from school competitions to international qualifiers—consistently and comprehensively.
The 2025 series will feature 16 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams, including newly promoted clubs and invited national contenders. Defending champions Heathens RFC (men) and Avengers (women) return with targets on their backs.
The Uganda Rugby Union has maintained two rest weekends in the schedule to ensure player well-being throughout the fast-paced campaign.
All fans can watch every match live on NBS Sport, and stream the games exclusively on AfroMobile. They can also be part of the conversation online by using the hashtag #NBSportRugby
