27th Annual Accountants’ Conference

Accountants across Uganda are gearing up for the 29th Annual Seminar organised by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), set for 4th to 6th September 2024 at the Imperial Resort Beach Hotel and online.

Under the theme "Driving Sustainability and Trust," the seminar will explore the critical role accountants play in promoting sustainable practices and fostering trust within the profession.

CPA Derick Nkajja, secretary and chief executive of ICPAU, emphasised the importance of the seminar.

“Accountants are the nexus between growth and sustainability," he said.

"We aim to reinforce our commitment to transparency and ethical practices that support organisational sustainability.”

The seminar will cover a wide range of topics, including sustainable finance, mental health and wellness, and managing land transactions, offering participants a holistic professional development experience.

Additionally, attendees can enjoy recreational activities like joy sailing, excursions to the Entebbe Reptile Village, and entertainment by Abeeka Band and Azawi.

A significant highlight will be the launch of the ICPAU Benevolent Fund and the 2024 Accountancy Service Awards, alongside a special farewell to John Bosco Ntangaare, ICPAU’s long-serving Director of Education.

Since its inception in 1995, the Annual Seminar has been a cornerstone for accountants in Uganda, providing an essential platform for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

With over 1,500 professionals expected to attend, this year’s event is supported by notable organisations like Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Ltd, MTN Uganda, and Standard Chartered Bank.

As the seminar approaches, participants anticipate a blend of enriching learning, relaxation, networking, and celebration.
