President William Ruto reiterated the government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety of Kenyans during a ceremony at State House, Nairobi.

The event marked the formal investiture of rank to the newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja.

In a post on his official X account,  Ruto emphasized the critical role of the rule of law in maintaining Kenya’s democracy. “The rule of law is the bedrock of our democracy. We must obey and submit to it for the stability of our country,” the President wrote.

He also reaffirmed the government’s ongoing support for security agencies in their efforts to keep the nation safe.

Speaking on Kanja’s appointment, President Ruto described him as a “seasoned leader” and a “disciplined career police officer” who is dedicated to the country.

He expressed confidence in Kanja’s ability to lead the National Police Service effectively and help strengthen Kenya’s security framework.

Inspector General Kanja, who has served in various capacities in the police force, brings years of experience to his new role.

His appointment comes at a crucial time when the country is focused on combating rising security challenges, including terrorism, organized crime, and internal unrest.

This latest move underscores the administration’s prioritization of security and governance as key pillars in Ruto’s leadership agenda. By empowering the police service with capable leadership, the President aims to enhance the country’s overall stability and safety.
