Gilbey’s Hangouts Ignites Fierce Debate on Phone Passwords and Trust in Relationships
A lively night at Gilbey’s Hangouts at Old Tymerz saw guests sharply divided over phone passwords in relationships, sparking heated debate on whether privacy strengthens or undermines trust between couples.

The conversation turned lively and at times uncomfortable on Friday night as the Gilbey’s Hangouts returned for its third edition at Old Tymerz, sparking a heated debate on one of modern relationships’ most sensitive issues—phone passwords and digital privacy.

As the first week of May came to an end, guests gathered to unwind after long workdays, traffic, and the pressures of daily life. With cocktails, music, and open conversations, the event created a relaxed social atmosphere where attendees could share experiences and ease into the weekend.

Several male guests argued in favour of privacy, saying phone passwords are mainly about personal security rather than secrecy.

“It’s not about hiding anything. It’s about trusting me to have my own space,” one attendee said.

Women in attendance pushed back strongly, insisting that openness and transparency are key pillars of trust in relationships.

“If you’ve got nothing to hide, why lock it? Secrets kill trust,” one female guest responded, drawing mixed reactions from the crowd.

As the debate intensified, guests shared personal experiences and differing views on trust, emotional boundaries, and digital access in relationships. Some argued that phone passwords create unnecessary suspicion, while others maintained that trust should not require unrestricted access to private devices.

Laughter, reactions, and storytelling continued throughout the night as guests enjoyed Gilbey’s signature cocktails in a relaxed setting, with nostalgic old-school music from Old Tymerz keeping the atmosphere vibrant.

The third edition attracted an even larger turnout, reflecting growing demand for social spaces that combine entertainment with open, relatable conversations.

“What stood out most tonight was how openly people expressed themselves and connected through honest conversation,” said Gilbey’s Brand Manager Raymond Karama.

He added that many people are increasingly seeking spaces where they can relax, share opinions freely, and engage in real dialogue after demanding workweeks.

Gilbey’s Hangouts continues every Friday at Old Tymerz.
