Gov’t Saves  Shs773Bn  from Agency Rationalisation Drive

Uganda's government has saved Shs773.3 billion following the rationalisation of agencies, Minister for Public Service, Muruli Mukasa, has revealed.

"The savings are from the wage and non-wage bills, NSSF contributions, gratuity and Board Expenses," Mukasa told the Committee on Public Service and Local Government chaired by MP Martin Mapenduzi.

Minister Mukasa said 90% of staff in 40 rationalised agencies have been absorbed into the mainstream public service.

"The majority of the non-absorbed staff are cadre staff whose functions and structures already existed in receiving institutions," he added.
