Entertainment television personality turned politician Miles Rwamiti has switched political allegiance once again, joining the Common Man’s Party (CMP) as its flagbearer for the Nakawa West parliamentary seat in the upcoming general elections.

Rwamiti, who previously contested the Hoima East seat on the FDC ticket and has moved between several parties over the years, said his decision reflects his commitment to representing ordinary Ugandans.

“The Common Man’s Party stands for fairness, equality, and opportunity for every Ugandan. I am proud to join a movement that believes in uplifting the people at the grassroots,” Rwamiti told journalists during his unveiling at CMP headquarters in Kampala.

CMP Chairperson James Watenteba welcomed Rwamiti’s entry, describing him as a “vibrant and people-centered leader” who embodies the party’s values.

“Rwamiti’s experience in media and public engagement makes him a strong candidate for Nakawa West. We believe he will effectively champion the concerns of ordinary citizens in Parliament,” she said.

Political analysts say Rwamiti’s move is a strategic boost for CMP, especially in urban constituencies, as the party seeks to expand ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Rwamiti’s frequent party switches have drawn public attention over the years. Observers say his latest move signals a continued search for a platform aligned with his vision of grassroots empowerment and social equality.

With CMP actively recruiting high-profile figures and strengthening its structures, Rwamiti’s candidacy is expected to bring fresh energy to the party’s campaign in Kampala.
