Mityana District authorities have barred supporters from outside the district from attending National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu’s campaign rally, citing concerns over congestion and public safety.

According to Deputy RDC Prossy Mwanjuzi, the decision to restrict non-resident attendees aims to prevent overcrowding and maintain safety during the campaign event.

“We shall not allow people from other districts to come and join the rally. Kyagulanyi has enough supporters here, and we want to ensure order and safety during his campaign,” Mwanjuzi said.

She assured that the district security committee is prepared to receive and protect all presidential candidates expected to campaign in the area.

In addition, security officials have shifted the venue of Kyagulanyi’s rally from the Mityana District playground to Busuubizi playground in Ttamu Division.

The move comes amid heightened political activity across Uganda, as presidential candidates tour the country seeking support ahead of the 2026 general elections.
