Presidential hopeful Mubarak Munyangwa of the Common Man’s Party has launched a fundraising campaign seeking Shs15 billion in support from well-wishers, donors, and the business community to enable him to traverse the country in his bid for the presidency.
The fundraising team will be chaired by Treasurer Musa Lukwago, assisted by Hasib Ssemakula, Vice President of the Common Man’s Party for the Buganda region, and Mutaasa Kefeero, the party’s publicity secretary.
Munyangwa said he requires financial support from overseas supporters, the business community, and other well-wishers to empower his mission of “liberating the common man.”
He also highlighted his campaign slogan, “Lusiniya,” which emphasizes sharing and eating together with ordinary citizens, allocating Shs2 billion specifically to activities that promote this message.
During the event, Munyangwa criticised the police for allegedly disorganizing his recent campaign rallies in Kawempe and Kabalagala, vowing to hold accountable those responsible.
The candidate’s campaign tour will take him to Kamuli and Buyende tomorrow, followed by Namayingo and Jinja on Sunday and Monday, respectively.
