Entebbe NUP leaders disown MP Kakembo over 'rebel' comments
Leaders of the National Unity Platform (NUP) in Entebbe have distanced themselves from statements made by their area Member of Parliament, Michael Kakembo, criticizing the party's top leadership and participation in alleged misconduct.
The leaders accuse Kakembo of incompetence and claim his comments do not represent the party's position in the municipality.

Kakembo's remarks, made during a local TV show trended on social media, targeting NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi, saying he has failed to learn from past experiences, settle internal disputes and cannot be advised.
The leaders also criticized Kakembo for attending a parliamentary regional sitting in Gulu City, which they deemed irrelevant to Entebbe residents.
Entebbe NUP leaders argue that Kakembo's views are personal and not reflective of the party's stance as well as the municipality.
They further accused him of being silent on local issues, such as the Fisheries Protection Unit's activities that have left many arrested and others displaced and also poor infrastructure.
However, the party's mobilization team in Entebbe has embarked on a move to collect signatures to recall Kakembo from Parliament, citing his alleged self-centeredness and failure to represent the constituency's interests in accordance with Article 83,84 of the constitution of Uganda.
According to the Entebbe deputy mayor, Charles Kabwama, the team will follow the correct procedures to ensure the area member of Parliament is recalled.
“Entebbe is bleeding because of this selfish person who has even failed to represent us, we will not sit until we have heard a final resolution of recalling him” Kabwama stated.
He also criticized Kakembo for backing Mityana South MP, Mr Richard Lumu, a member of the Democratic Party (DP) for introducing a Private Member's Bill titled The Administration of Parliament Amendment Bill 2024, the Bill intended to revise the Leader of Opposition (LoP) selection.
Wakiso District Kunga Mobilization Coordinator, Joyce Nabatta said the MP has started conniving with the National Resistance Movement (NRM) officials which affects the principles of NUP.
Kakembo has dismissed the alleged move as an act of fear fueled by those who seek for public sympathy and intended to malign his name.
“I would love to advise my colleagues to mind their businesses. The words I speak are mine, I don’t speak for anybody; Entebbe deserves better not just these political games they play. First of all, I’m an elder in the party, so I’m eligible to advise the party president but if I see him wisecking , I don’t expect such a person to lead this country.” Nabatta highlighted.
