It is high time NRM reclaimed its Mecca from opposition in Nakaseke South- Nsereko

As the 2021 election fever gains momentum, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag bearer for Nakaseke South cum businessman, Charles Nsereko has said it is high time the party reclaimed its Mecca from Democratic Party’s Paul Luttamaguzi.

Greater Luweero has been christened as NRM’s Mecca because the district was at the centre of the five-year guerrilla war that brought President Museveni and his NRA/M government to power in 1986.

However, some of the constituencies, including Nakaseke South are represented by opposition members in parliament.

Speaking at the launch of his campaigns, Nsereko said Nakaseke is of great significance to the ruling government, noting that it is high time NRM took back what belongs to them.

"The previous parliamentary elections' mistakes have been rectified and shall not be repeated. That is why all NRM contestants in the concluded party primaries are with me here as you can see. Previously, the incumbent rode his campaign on lies and propaganda to win your favour. He also took advantage of the divisions among NRM members which eventually confused the voters and ended up voting opposition," Nsereko said on Saturday.

At the function, Nsereko was joined by Arthur Nkalubo and Joseph Nyanzi whom he trounced in the September, 4 party primaries as they pledged to support him in the forthcoming campaigns.

Nsereko emphasized that there is no room for similar mistakes now that the party is united and noted they are determined to reclaim NRM’s Mecca.

“To our supporters, remain calm and desist from attacking or abusing our opponents. Work hard to convince them to join the winning team.”

He took a jibe at the incumbent Member of Parliament for focusing on cheap popularity instead of lobbing for his constituents.

Nsereko promised to work with everyone to ensure the constituency lives up to the billing of NRM’s Mecca.

The NRM Chairperson Nakaseke District, Muhammad Ggubya said that all flag bearers in the District are to be empowered and overwhelmingly supported until victory is their way.
