The Uganda Whistle Blowers Association (UWBA) has continued to roll out its civic education campaign by including scouts in Uganda.
UWBA president Musa Majoba revealed that the organisation plans to work with Boy Scouts and Girl Guides in Uganda to sensitize citizens against violence and preach tolerance in the upcoming general election.
Boy Scouts and Girl Guides organisations bring together youth from all over the country and those especially in the education system. The organisations are popular in schools for engaging youth in useful extracurricular activities and build skills.
Majoba has pledged to expand the program to the two organisations as the education calendar resumes in the country. President Yoweri Museveni recently greenlit schools to resume operations with candidate classes receiving students and pupils this October.
Majoba was also recognised with a certificate of appreciation for his dedicated advocacy for civic education throughout all sectors of Ugandan society. Majoba received the certificate while presenting to the Rotaract Club of Mulago.
At the same function, Majoba pointed out the glaring shortage of emergency vehicles like ambulances. He urged the Uganda Red Cross to seriously consider deploying personnel to be on standby in case their medical assistance is required at any of the 28,950 polling stations nationwide.
As parties emerge from internal primaries and gear up to face off for voters attention, Majoba called upon Police not to handle citizens brutally. He urged police to call out its law enforcement mandate with a degree of humanity because all citizens have a right to support whichever party they so choose.
The civic education programme is part of UWBA’s 2020 commitment to help Ugandan youth appreciate and love their nation.

UWBA is led by Majoba who mobilizes the public to be a part of public debates, strategic discussions, and practical solution finding missions.
