Uganda received a cold welcome to this year’s edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) after losing 3-1 to Zambia.

The Chipolopolo took the lead on the 38th minute mark after the East African side was caught on the counter for an easy tap for Lazarus Kambole to put the ball in the back of the net.

Meanwhile, the Zambian celebration was short lived when KCCA striker Derrick Nsibambi bagged an equalizer two minutes later, thanks to a spectacular volley off a delicious cross by Milton Karisa from the right flank.

Zambia however restored their lead in the 64th minute through Zanaco FC ‘s Augustine Mulenga to make it 2-1 at the Stade de Marrakech.

The Southern Africa country took the lead beyond reach nine minutes later when Benjamin Ochan made a blunder that saw him fumble with a deflected Kapumbu freekick that saw the centre referee point to the centre for Zambia to take the day.

Zambia are now top of group B with the same points as Namibia who had earlier beaten Ivory Coast.

The Lions and Uganda are third and fourth in group B of this year’s CHAN in Morocco.
