The Inspector of Government, Justice Irene Mulyagonja, has defended the just concluded Anti-Corruption Walk in Kampala saying it served the purpose of showing solidarity in fighting the increasing vice of corruption in the country.
The IGG who was flanked by the representative of the speaker MP Kenneth Obote Onaglo during the launch of the pocket version friendly handbook of the Inspectorate of Government Act 2002, said it was unfortunate that some people failed to understand the theme of the walk and ended up castigating the fruitful activity.
The Anti- Corruption Week that that started with a walk on December 4 climaxed yesterday with the launch of a pocket friendly version of the Inspectorate of the Government Act of 2002 at Parliament.
According to the IGG Justice Irene Mulyagonja and Christine Byiringiro the Programs officer at Uganda Debt Network, the version of the Act is intended to raise awareness and popularize the roles and responsibilities of citizens in identifying and reporting corruption at all levels in the country.
Mulyagonja attacked those who castigated the walk saying they did not understand the theme of the walk.
She used the function to show her dissatisfaction with the quality of debate of the 10th Parliament.
