FDC ready to take over IPOD leadership this week

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has said it is ready to take over Interparty Organizations Dialogue (IPOD) Leadership on Wednesday 27 November 2019.

FDC maintains that it did not intend to delay in taking over IPOD leadership but they were waiting for Democratic Party to hand over office in time.

The FDC was initially to take over IPOD leadership office on 25 September 2019 but did not make it for some reasons.

FDC Deputy Spokesperson John Kikonyogo says now that FDC is ready to take over IPOD chairmanship. It will push for a smooth democratic transition in the country and they think, they will do their best.

In addition FDC has defended its stand for not taking part in the recent IPOD summit saying they had a human rights issue, “We had issues with our rights; rights to hold rallies, right to do party work as it is supposed to be done, without the interference of the government, which government is headed by one of the summit Members,” Mr. Kikonyogo lamented.

At a time when FDC is taking over IPOD leadership, the country is mired by increased violations of human rights. FDC maintains to uphold IPOD Memorandum of Understanding and push for a smooth democratic transition.

Away From IPOD debate, FDC has asked Speaker of Ugandan Parliament Rebecca Kadaga to compel Members of Parliament and other government officials to seek medical treatment from Mulago Hospital, a move that revamp Uganda’s health system.
