The body of Uganda Human Rights Commission chairperson, Med Kaggwa has been taken to Mulago hospital to carry out postmortem.

The UHRC chairperson was rushed to Case hospital on Wednesday morning after being found unconscious in his vehicle and was later pronounced dead.

According to Dr.Patrick Kaliika, the Medical Director at Case Hospital, the UHRC chairperson was brought to the hospital at 7:55 am by a medical doctor from Mulago who found him collapsed in his car near Mulago roundabout.

“The car allegedly stopped suddenly and knocked the car in front of it. The car was found locked and hence broken into by bystanders,” Kaliika said.

However, according to Kaliika, the body will be taken to Mulago hospital to carry out a postmortem, whose report will reveal the exact cause of the death.

“We are taking the body to Mulago to do a postmortem to find out what exactly caused the death,” the Medical Director at Case Hospital said on Wednesday.

This came after earlier reports had indicated that the UHRC boss had knocked another which could have caused his death but according to the Case Hospital medic, the postmortem report will reveal the exact cause of the death.

Private hospitals are allowed to do postmortem reports but the official ones(postmortem reports) are done by government facilities.
